Small Changes, Big Impact

From 10 November 2025, a €0.20 charge applies to all paper carrier bags.

This small change is designed to encourage reuse and reduce single-use packaging. While paper bags are recyclable, they still use valuable natural resources, so reusing your bag, even just a few extra times, can make a real difference.

Rethinking Our Packaging

We’ve made significant changes to our packaging to reduce waste and support more sustainable materials.

• All our bags and boxes are made in Ireland
• Materials are FSC approved, supporting responsibly managed forests
• We were proud to move from plastic to paper bags early on

All our packaging can be 100% recycled including our mailer bags, tape, fill material and boxes. Our Mailer Bags are made from 80% recycled materials. We now use a innovative paper tape to secure your parcel, which is fully recyclable and is made with materials from renewable resources.

All our boxes are FSC Certified, meaning they meet with the gold standard of ethical production. The wood used to make the boxes is harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious and economically viable.
All our boxes are 100% recyclable and made in Ireland reducing there carbon footprint.

Carraig Donn were one of the first retailers in Ireland to make the move to paper carrier bags from plastic.

Energy Efficiency in Action

Behind the scenes, we’re working hard to lower our energy use and operate more efficiently:

• Solar panels are have been installed at our Westport Head Office
• Energy improvements are being rolled out across 40+ stores
• LED lighting is used throughout our stores and offices
• Our teams are trained to support recycling and energy-saving practices
